The creative industry is full of problems or should I say challenges, talk to any successful creative director, event planners, a content marketer or any professional with a positive attitude, and you’ll find one key trait in common: all of them have a unique mentality that allows them to handle challenges differently.
Rather than seeing problems as burdensome forces of opposition, they see problems as opportunities–opportunities to learn, grow, improve, or adjust in a way that leaves them better off than before the problem existed.
Dealing with problems and challenges is a regular part of working life, and overcoming them isn’t always easy. To improve your products, services, communications, and interpersonal skills, and for you and your organization to excel, you need to encourage creative thinking and find innovative solutions that work. Problems or challenges, uncomfortable as they may be, also afford us an incredible opportunity for learning. It’s often when we lose what we have, that we start to appreciate it. The darkest situations can bring out the greatest opportunities for kindness.
A Chinese saying “Chi Ku Shi Fu” (eating bitterness is good fortune) highlights the idea that there is the opportunity for wisdom and growth in suffering. Change your mindset and behavior, start training your brain to see problems or challenges as opportunities. Be creative, think harder, maximize your assets or capital and flip them into your own benefits.
